Why Consulting?
Fifteen years ago, I started a construction company. It has always
been my desire to provide true craftsmanship with a relational
approach. Done Right, not perfect, not every bell and
whistle, but well built, long lasting, beautiful and functional
buildings. As soon as I started building accessory buildings, I knew
I had found my niche. I love the buildings and I connect with the
people who want them. My clients are capable, practical, financially
conservative homestead builders. They can do it themselves. What they
do or buy must make sense. They want to spend as little money as
possible although they are willing to pay for quality. The home front
is usually the focus of their time and cash expenditures. Here are
the main reasons my clients' needs are better met by consulting - see
what you think.
- Participation and Control:
- You make and enforce the schedule
- Approve the quality before you pay
- Spend as you see fit
- Do as much or little of the work as you want
- Savings - No
contractor mark up. This alone saves between 20 and 30 percent;
sometimes more.
- Vendor Network -
Preferred subcontractors and suppliers
- All vendors are members of professional industry
associations
- Wholesale pricing (more money saved!)
- Years of history with vendor network
- Written agreement to code of ethics that ensures preferred
quality, customer service, timeliness and wholesale pricing
- Confirmed bond, license and insurance documentation
- Resources -
THE BINDER
- Personalized budget with electronic tracking worksheets
- Proven systems for all aspects of the project
- Pre-orders for vendors - your subs and suppliers already know
all about your job before you contact them
- Customized software
- Projected construction schedule
- Coaching
- You will have a gifted personal coach who has years
of experience in their field. Your coach will listen, help provide
solutions and creativity and care about your project as much as
you do. They will walk through your job
with you step by step.
- Decades of experience in the accessory building industry
- Product, product application and industry knowledge
- Specialized product knowledge (i.e. Automotive, equestrian,
woodworking)
Why consulting?
Because you can do this yourself, have more fun and spend less money.
A Darby Consultant is the key ingredient.
